German group MATALEX has build a strong following in every country where they have appeared live because of their eclectic high-energy music which always mixes musical styles. Founded by Berklee College Of Music graduates Alex Gunia and Matthias Krauss Jr., the band has been together since 1992.

From their first album "Wild Indian Summer", which included american indian music elements, via Jazz-Grunge, which opened to include radical rock-guitar playing, they have constantly expanded their style. While they are in the musical tradition of jazz-rock to a certain degree, they have expanded on this music style considerably.

On Proud, which was recorded during several months in 1997, they have collaborated with one of Germany's leading rap stars .. Thomas D. of the group "Die fantastischen 4" .. and have included english vocals on some other tunes as well as modern dance rhythms.
