Masha Bijlsma - Profile

Jazzline JL 1157-2

Dutch girl Masha Bijlsma is one of the best young jazz singers in Europe. Her first album "Winds Of Change" (on the label "Challenge") received great reviews - and in 1996 she toured all over northern Europe as well as playing the well-known "North Sea Jazz Festival" in Den Haag.
Several tours of the BeNeLux and Germany as well as concerts in London followed. In March 1997 Masha played a great concert in the USA - at the legendary "South-By-Southwest" festival in Dallas, TX.

On "Profile" she has invited saxophone star Tony Lakatos as a guest (and co-composer) for the first time on an album. Lakatos had toured with her several times in Germany, Holland and Skandinavia and the firendship grew organically over more then two years.

The album is more groovy and swinging then her first (dark and moody) album Lebo - mainly because of the influences of performing and travelling in the USA.
